What are Top 10 New Features of iOS 5 Which Make it Better & Different than iOS 4.x.x

Apple has just launched iOS 5 which was long awaited by the people who are interested to upgrade their devices and want to add some more spice to their devices. As usual there are something new for the users to attract them and force them to upgrade their devices. New version iOS 5 is available for download on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch existing models however, Apple has intelligently linked this launch with iPhone 4S which was announced on 4October 2011 and will be in hands of public from 14 October onwards.

Last iOS update from Apple was 4.3.5 besides many other beta versions of iOS 5. That issue was more criticized by the people because it brought nothing else except security fixes. 2. Notification Center. It is another yet a required widget or feature added to the new operating system iOS 5. In short this only feature contains many reasons for which people Jailbreak their devices such as 6 days weather forecast widget, stocks widget, facebook, sms and in application popups. Once such things are downloaded by users via Tweaks then they do not give a great look but now they really give elegant touch to your device by providing you a beautiful interface.

3. Newsstand. It is also one of the features of iOS 5 about which many hypes were created. Especially those who were related to the magazines and newspaper business showed up some more interest in this Newsstand. This will have a stock of various Newspapers and Magazines, which will be updates as soon as published by the providers. Obviously only those newspaper or magazine issues will come which you have subscribed to, whether they are Paid or Free.

4. Reminders. No detailed introduction about this application is required as it is a common feature in all smartphones and even old phones as well but when Apple has brought something for users it will again be having a great looking interface. 5. Twitter. In older versions of iOS you used to download a special application for Twitter which was not having a lot of options but this preloaded Twitter app will really make you happy with many options in itself. Most important thing about new application of twitter is that you can connect it with camera, take photos, make videos or whatever and simply tweet for your followers to see it.

6. iMessage. It is yet another great feature of iOS 5 about which we have already reviewed and you can read here. One important point is that you can even come to know whether the person who received iMessage has read it or not because iMessage has nothing to do with your carrier company but only works on WiFi.

7. Safari. In iOS 5 Safari has been given full control of nitro javascript engine which is unlike in iOS 4 where it only applied to webpage loading. With this addition any web based application will work at much faster speed as compared to iOS 4.x.x. Another thing in Safari for iOS 5 is that you can pull away any distracting content such as ads, popups or side text by tapping on ‘reader’ button provided on the browser bar and contains only bookmarking options till iOS 4.

8. Photos. A long required photo editor which was a must have application or feature for any smartphone has at last been added in iOS 5. In the new operating system photo application has a lot of sub features which let you do something with pictures other than just looking at them. Some of worth mentioning features are Crop tool, Red eye removal, Auto Enhance and Rotate.

9. Camera. Another reason not to Jailbreak your device will be addition of camera button on home screen with slider so that no time is wasted in taking a quick photograph. New iPhone 4S is coming with 8MP of camera so there are obvious reasons to improve built in camera App. Above all you have the option to use volume buttons for making photographs.

10. PC Free. Last but not the least, this feature will kill the statement that you need to have a computer if you want to use iOS device properly. Use of iTunes will be minimized because of iCloud and there will be no need to connect it with computer when comes out of box. Besides these listed features, iOS 5 will be a great new addition for Apple iOS users because some of the basic applications really needed to be integrated or come pre installed with new phone. Now most of the users will appreciate these additions and Apple has tried their level best to stop people from Jailbreaking. This time they may be successful upto some extent because some more improvements in applications such as, Mail, Calendar, Game Center, Air Play Mirroring and Multitasking Gestures for iPad have also been improved.
