Socialism is a system that lays emphasis on collectivism and negates individualism. It denounces the possession of private property and advocates that the economic and other material resources should remain under central control of the state and utilized for the collective benefit of the people. The socialist philosophy is rooted in the philosophy of Karl Marx that has been elaborated in his renowned book, ‘Das Capita’.
According to Communist Manifesto given by Karl Marx, the actual problem that faces the mankind is the ‘bread’. Man is a product of combination of natural chemicals in the universe. and lives while eating his bread. His civilization, his culture, his society, all his mental thoughts and emotional attitudes are inter related with his economic way of life. Neither are there any permanent laws
of nature in universe, nor are there any permanent values to guide the mankind. There is nothing known as ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Even there is no room or importance for the aesthetic sense of man. Similarly there is no existence of the ‘world of emotions and feelings’ of a man. Man is an animal whose aim to eat to live and die after completing the biological cycle of his life. The status man is rather worse than an animal. An animal in a jungle does not have to struggle for food, whereas man has to undergo tremendous labor and hardships to earn the bread.
Feuerbach was a student of Hegal. He was a staunch materialist of that period and hence a blue-eyed of Marx and Fredrick Engles. His famous quote is that “the man is what he eats”.
The most attractive clause of the socialist philosophy is the concern for the laborers,
workers, the poor and the down-trodden. But the way this philosophy was transformed into practice is a sad story. After the Russian Revolution of 1917, the people who called themselves the representatives of the proletariat (the working class), grabbed power and turned the country into a totalitarian state. The most severe kind of dictatorship was imposed along with the worst coercion and censorship. The cruelty and the coercion that was displayed by the sympathizers was unprecedented in the history of mankind, surpassed only by the terror of Genghis Khan. The proponents of classless society transformed the country into two classes, the ruling elite with unlimited powers and resources in their hand and the one who were ruled, with little or no initiative or a ay in the government / state affairs. The people, particularly of the other racial origins were massacred and transferred into camps.
As matter of fact the socialist system treats every individual like a part of machine.
People work with no incentives and no competitions and hence their production and the quality of the products do not come up to the desired standard.
With centralized planning and execution, nothing is left in the hands of the managers at middle and lower levels to display their abilities. That was a major reason why the socialist countries generally lagged behind in scientific research and high technological equipment.Feuerbach writes in his book, ‘ Essence of Christianity’:
“ Nothing exits outside the man or the nature. The high-stature personalities that have been created by our religious imaginations are nothing but the fantastic output of our mind”.
Obviously the main target of critique by the Marxist theory was the religion. In the next post, I shall try to elaborate how the Marxist philosophy emerged as a reaction to Christianity.

What a surprise. Another right wing diatribe that neglects most of the relevant history, conflates totalitarianism with socialism and ignores the unprecedented brainwashing of contemporary Americans.
@D: May be hard for you to admit, but the above is the result of socialism applied. Socialism does not, nor ever will work. It is a system that destroys incentive (why should I work harder than my neighbor when he/she will reap the same spoils?), violates basic economic principles (the govt controls the market, so the supply/demand equilibrium is disrupted, producing shortages & surpluses), and destroys individual liberty (the state, which is run by politicians acting in their own self interest, uses force to deprive individuals of the right to act in their own self interest and pursue life, liberty and property without force/fraud). Instead of making claims that relevant history has been violated, try reading “Capitalism & freedom” by Milton Friedman. Now if you’ll excuse me, this brainwashed American has to get back to work so beret-wearing hippies like yourself can sit around in coffee shops deciding how the world can be more fair.
@D and @V
An effort has been made to show to the readers both sides of the same coin; the Capitalism and the Socialism. The underlying idea is that any system that is devoid of human consideration and does not take into account the inner side of man, is doomed to failure. A system that considers man not more than an animal will not be able to address the real pains of the mankind and will not bear the moral grounds to be healer of the human sufferings. In such a scenario, mankind will keep experimenting a system and after failing in achieving the aim, will switch to the other failed system. The brainwashing of Americans is nothing but a reaction to the evil-infested capitalism that has failed to deliver. The world should search for some other system like “Humanism” that should address the material as well as the abstract needs of the man. Is it so difficult an option for a civilization that claims to be the leader of the world? Think over it.
Regards.
Peace,
Thank you for the civil response. I agree 100% with the first 4 sentences in your reply.
Where I begin to disagree is the part of your reply where you state that Americans are brainwashed. I encourage you to be careful of writing in the collective. Americans are a very diverse group of people, but what unites us is a strong love of our country’s founding principles that include individual liberty coupled with the freedom to pursue happiness. The fact that we have a huge immigration problem attests to the fact that we must be doing something right.
The fault in your thinking lies in your belief that man CAN create a perfect system that will give people 100% freedom AND 100% security. I argue that this is NOT possible. For instance, if a government exists that can give people whatever they want, whenever they want it, that same government would inherently have the power to take things away whenever it so desired. You need to remember this: government is NOT an altruistic, omniscient, single entity…it is a complex web of individuals working in their own self interest. Therefore, since those in authority will ALWAYS act in their own self-interest, great care must be taken to limit the amount of power those same people are allowed to possess. To deny this fact is to live in denial to the way the world works.
So what is the solution? Well, coming from a free-market loving libertarian, my answer may come as a surprise to you. The solution is not a what, but a who. His name is Jesus Christ. The Bible states that this world is corrupt, and God’s gift of hope to mankind lies in the sacrifice of His Son to us.
There is nothing wrong with trying to improve this world. Christ himself commands believers to be “salt and light” to the world.
The greatest society is one that possesses two distinct properties: 1) individuals are allowed to pursue happiness without force or fraud on others and 2) Christians acting to be salt and light, where we as the Church love others and care for the poor (not the government using forced altruism).
I don’t feel that my comments have truly done justice to these critical concepts, and there is so much more I would love to write on this subject, but I have very limited time. If you are so inclined, two fantastic books to read on this topic are: “Capitalism and freedom” by Milton Friedman and “The Case for Faith” by Lee Strobel.
I conclude by thanking you for the opportunity to communicate with you and offer you the final reply since after all, it is your blog.
Kind regards.
Disinformed: Marx is not the founder of socialism. Disinformed: socialism does not negates individualism or freedom, but proposes a different kind of both. Disinformed: among socialists, there are discussions about how social production should be organized, centrally or not, stimulated by state or not, etc. (In the same way that keyneysians and neoliberals debate how the market and the state should act in capitalism.)
Totalitarianism happened in capitalist and fascist ’30 Italia, capitalist and nazist ’30 Germany, with socialist ’30 USSR, and even in capitalists latin-american countries like Brazil (with Vargas in 1930), Argentina (Perón in 1946), etc.
A suggestion? Read more about history, capitalism and socialism. And some questions for thinking. The Nazy Germany is the result of capitalism applied? Global misery is the result of capitalism applied?
Ah, and no, I am not a socialist, or communist, or whatever…
