1. Detroit.

Over the past many years Detroit is being ranked as the most dangerous city of the US. It took off as an industrial town in 1950s but started decaying with the economic outsourcing and flight of thousands of people to suburbs. 1970s saw the worst surge in crime rate that still continues. Most common are the property crimes like theft, robbery and arson. Murder rate in Detroit is among the top ten cities of the US. Average rate of homicide per year remains between 350 and 400. Most of the crimes are due to gang warfare and drug barons.

2. Las Vegas.

A city in California houses a large number of clubs, casinos and bars. Kidnapping for ransom is a very frequent crime. Theft, robbery and arson are also common. Crimes related with sex and drugs are rampant. Las Vegas has a close linkage with Los Angeles which has large number criminal gangs indulging in violence.

3. New Orleans.

The US city with a population of 300,000 has the highest murder rate in the country. As per an estimate about 98 out of 100,000 people are killed in a year. Apart the city is also infested with violent crimes related with drugs and gang war.

It is a town on the border with the US. The town showed a sharp rise in the crimes related to drug mafia, gang warfare and murders. A large of population lives in poverty and is in the grip of violence. The trafficking of illegal arms is rampant. The city has seen a large number of sex-related murders of female factory workers.

Violent crime and armed robberies are common. Apart, kidnapping and assaults also occur on daily basis. Though many safe areas also exist but a large number of areas are considered dangerous for the visitors.

6. Bogota, Colombia.

It is one of the biggest and large cities in both the continents. Columbia has serious problems of drug trafficking and violent political vendetta. The city has shown a little improvement since 1990s but it is still a dangerous place to visit.

7. Guatemala.

The city is facing a perpetual problem of increase in crime. Main reason is the inefficient and corrupt police and judicial system. Most common crime are the murder and drug warfare.
